Grief
Grief is a funny thing
Hilarious even
Like a hollowed out laugh
Forced through quivering lips
A whisper of what once lit an entire room
Snuffed out in an instant
Plunging the world into darkness unending.
Gasps echo around you
Tortured sobs pulse in your ears
As you struggle to understand their source
Only to realize they slip
Uncontrollably from your trembling lips
Your body grieves as your mind numbs
Unable to accept the truth you see
Your eyes betray you whispers your soul
As you slowly crumble to the ground
Clutching a body long gone cold.
